Went to the swift with Joe today. Fished the pipe and tree pool today. Slow fishing. Nothing seemed to be working well until Joe tied on a green hares ear. Then things started going well. Two fish in three casts was enough to make me switch. I tied on a swift scuds in line green and an all purpose nymph in olive. Fish started coming to the net regularly after that. Preference was for the nymph. Wither it was the profile or the slight difference in color the scuds only accounted for a single fish as the top fly. All told I think Joe and I combined for over 15 fish in a skew day of fishing. Curiously a pod of fish moved up to the pipe around 2 pm. Feeding time at the hatchery?
Weather sunny and temperature was just barely freezing as there was ice in the guides most of the day.
